For as long as I can remember, readers have fought over e-readers and real books. Some think that you’re not a true reader if you don’t read a paperback. A lot of readers refuse to even pick up an e-reader and try it out. And then, there is the reader that only ever reads on their e-reader and doesn’t bother to read paper books anymore.
Personally, I have gone full-on e-reader for the past five years. It was an easy switch for me, I grew up as a teenager reading fanfiction on my phone or the computer. I got to the point for a while that was all I ever read.
Then I was introduced to ebooks and read on my phone for a while. It hurt my eyes and I was straining them to the point that my vision was blurry when I wasn’t reading.
After having a baby, I went from reading physical books and occasional ebooks to full-on ebooks and then caved a year after and bought my first kindle paperwhite. It was the best $100 plus dollars I ever spent in my life.
It basically paid for itself. If you think about it, an average book at the store is $14.99 and if you’re like me and read through them really fast, that’s a lot of money. My library doesn’t have many choices and if you want a new book then you’re going to have to buy it outright.
Ebooks are more accessible and you usually can find them in e-libraries and if not they’re much cheaper than their physical copies. What’s not to like?
Whether you read digital or paper books, it doesn’t define you as not a true reader. A true reader just loves to read.
